EPW - Louis Mestral (one listing at Paris without first name, 1822), gold and stone-set quarter repeating verge fusee, striking on gongs, 43mm, 18K OF original consular case with hunting back activated by button on band, spring-loaded gilt cuvette, the case in applied multicolor gold decoration set with white, pink and red stones, KWKS, gold Tavernier style ET dial, verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced & engraved foliate scrolled two-footed balance bridge, without number. Gross weight of assembled watch 41.6 dwt (64.7 g).
CONDITION:
Mvt: GRO, good balance motion, good escapement function, plates show near mint gilding, no oxide on steel components; good repeat function with bright sonorous tone; dial near mint, hardly any scuffs or MFS; hands later, interesting style hour and baton minute in black painted finish; original case shows very little wear, two stones missing from front bezel, hardly any MFS, no dents or dings; hunting back with powerful springs actually forcing the cover so the closure gap is substantial; bow & pendant original, tight, little worn; good domed glass crystal.
